Wetsuits are expensive products which should be looked after in order to make it last. We strongly encourage you to carefully treat them to avoid having to get a new one regularly. We made a list of our tips that will help you extend the life of your wetsuit.
You should also consider that on average 26% of a garment’s environmental impact happens after-purchase and has a lot to do with how we take care of our clothes as well as the use of resources such as energy and water for washing them.
Here you have our reccons to look after your wetsuit and make it last!
Rinse your wetsuit in fresh cold water to avoid losing flexibility and saltiness.
Don’t expose it to the sun and UV rays for too long to prevent fast aging.
Never use a washing machine, dryer, dry cleaner, or bleach.
After your suit’s been drying for a while, turn it inside out and give the other side a chance to dry too, this will help you to get your wetsuit fully dry for your next session.
Occasionally care with special wetsuit soaps.
Once your wetsuit is done, don’t get rid of it. At Turtl Project we introduced a downcycling program to give a second life to those old or broken wetsuits you no longer use in order to avoid them ending up in the garbage. Text us if you want to know more
